参议院目标2023-2024年

1) Provide unapologetic strong faculty leadership in the processes for institutional planning and 预算 development, educational program development, standards or policies regarding student preparation and success and district and college governance structures.

2) 学术参议院 will advocate to increase instructional faculty 多样性 through advocating shared governance systemic changes such as:

  • Hiring processes being more transparent to applicants (ex. screening criteria is shared with candidates)
  • Automatic equivalency based on MQ pre-screening
  • Consistent practice of pre-screening
  • Holding faculty accountable to Title 5 requirements for hiring processes
  • Mentoring a potential diverse faculty pool

3) 学术参议院 will identify and implement opportunities for senators to express opinions in various methods of collecting their information/opinions (ex. various polls throughout the meetings, chat boxes that can be public or private, agree/disagree signals when someone is talking). 

4) 学术参议院 will advocate for data-driven decision-making at the district and college level, listening to VC students and faculty

5) Work collaboratively with AFT on negotiated issues where our missions overlap including but not limited to: working modality assignment, 实验室薪酬平等, 德的评价, 还有类帽. Increase frequency and/or prioritization of formal updates from AFT to 学术参议院, and from 学术参议院 to AFT.

参议院2020-2021年目标

 

目标1: Update 学术参议院 宪法 and Bylaws including but not limited to: clarifying voting committee issue in the Senate 宪法.

目标2: Work collaboratively and with respect for each other’s opinions. Implement practices at 学术参议院 Council meetings that foster rich, inclusive dialogue among senators.

目标3: Practice and promote equity, 多样性, inclusiveness and antiracist practices in 学术参议院 Council meetings and throughout the campus. Consider resolutions related to racial justice.

目标4: Professional development will focus inward on campus culture change through equity-centered professional development. 公平的指导, 研讨会, 研究院, and speaker series will be included as hands-on initiatives that will continually foster practitioner change.

目标5: Create a new faculty hiring prioritization process.

目标6: Ensure transparency in all things including but not limited to: 预算s, 评估, 通信, 和委员会.

目标7: Distribute the local 学术参议院 handbook to all faculty and keep the Senate website updated to ensure information is easy to find. Promote 10+1 on campus including but not limited to: hiring committees (increase 多样性), tenure review committee makeup, 预算, and curriculum considerations (added to program review process).
